Company History

Lodge Real Estate (Hamilton) Ltd has now been at the forefront of Hamilton real estate for over 30 years. Initially formed in 1969, with just two partners and one support staff, the Lodge Group has grown since that time to become the largest in Hamilton with six branches, 20 support staff and sales staff numbering over 80.

From humble beginnings as an independent operator, the company was one of the founding members of ‘The Professionals’ co-operative, and later joined ‘United Realty’, during which time the city office consistently achieved ‘Top Office in the Group’. Steady expansion saw branches opened in Hamilton East in 1989, Chartwell in 1992 and most recently Dinsdale in 1998. In 1984, Lodge City Rentals Ltd was formed, and this company has grown to be one of the largest private rental businesses in New Zealand. In order to provide specialist real estate solutions as a full service company, Lodge Country Ltd was founded during 2001 to concentrate on the rural sector. In addition, Lodge has a full commercial sales/leasing team offering expertise in business, investment flats and commercial and industrial sales.

In 1997, after nine years with United, Lodge’s desire for independence and the autonomy to become more involved in the local community through various sporting and social organisations prompted the company’s move away from the constraints of franchising to gain the flexibility of an independent company.

During the company’s thirty year history Lodge has updated its approach to marketing real estate, keeping abreast of world trends and innovative selling and marketing techniques. The company was one of the first responsible for introducing both Exclusive Marketing and Auctioning programmes to the Hamilton residential market in the early 1980’s. The philosophy behind this move, that in-depth marketing and quality service effects a sale, is well proven and has become the industry standard today.

The groups “Commitment to being No 1 Through Excellence” is reflected in its growing residential market share. For the year ended March 2005 Lodge secured in excess of 34% of the residential agent sold homes in Hamilton selling over $400,000,000 of Hamilton real estate. This reflects a successful trend more people are entrusting their real estate decisions to the Lodge Group.
