Lodge originally began managing properties in the 1970's. The Hamilton population was expanding; the University was growing and the need for less expensive higher density living was increasing the need for rental properties. To assist investors find tenants and manage the issues surrounding their investments Lodge began managing properties. David Couch was instrumental in establishing those early service standards and is still actively involved in the company's governance and strategic direction today.
In 1982 Lodge took the bold move to separate Lodge City Rentals into a stand alone residential property management company. This focus ensured that speciality systems were developed specifically for managing residential investments.
In 1998 David Kneebone joined Lodge in the role of business development. David moved quickly to extend the service delivery of Lodge City Rentals. The work the company undertook gave many of the property owners whom Lodge City Rentals represented the time and confidence to focus on growing their portfolio interests. Today as General Manager David's role continues to be concentrated on improving the procedures surrounding property management and helping owner clients expand their wealth.
In 2006 Lodge City Rentals opened its second office, in Victoria Street, under the guidance of branch manager Jason Waugh. A four time winner of the prestigious REINZ Property Manager of the Year Award for the Waikato / BOP District Jason's strong service commitment cemented the Lodge culture in the new office. This allowed more extensive service to the Western Suburbs, improved convenience for tenants and gave owner clients the benefit of a larger tenant pool.
Today with 16 property managers in two locations Lodge City Rentals manages over 3000 properties. Its continued focus on excellence has driven it to become Hamilton's largest property management company.
